Lokesh & Varsha Learn About Our Food — A Tanglish EVS Lesson for Class 1Little Ones
Food is our fuel!
Lokesh feels weak and sleepy one morning — until Varsha akka explains it simply: just like a car needs petrol to run, our body needs food to get energy. No fuel, no power. No food, no energy. It's a tiny comparison, but for a Class 1 kid, it makes the idea of "why we eat" click instantly.
Mealtimes of the day — (Breakfast), (Lunch), (Dinner)
Through the day, Lokesh and Varsha show how the same idea of "eating right" plays out differently across meals:
Breakfast — in the soft morning sunlight, Lokesh enjoys a North Indian breakfast while Varsha has her South Indian favourites. Same goal, different plates.
Lunch — under the bright noon sun, hats on, the two enjoy a picnic lunch, again each with their own regional food.
Dinner — as the moon rises over the balcony, a light dinner closes the day.
The lesson here is gentle but clear: breakfast, lunch, and dinner each have their place, and good food at the right time keeps us going from sunrise to moonlight.
Why wasting food matters
In one heartfelt scene, Lokesh casually tosses food he doesn't want into the dustbin — until Varsha gently reminds him that somewhere, another child may be hoping for a meal just like that one. The realisation hits him immediately: "I wasted someone's feast!" From that moment, Lokesh promises to only take what he can finish.
It's a small moment, but it teaches one of the most important EVS values for young children — gratitude for food, and never wasting it.
Healthy food helps us grow
Later, Amma reminds Lokesh to eat his vegetables and drink his milk if he wants to grow strong. Years later, a relative is pleasantly surprised at how much taller and healthier Lokesh looks — proof, in the simplest possible way, that healthy eating really does help children grow.
